Helping Animals in Need of Care

As a medically focused 501c3 animal welfare organization, HFA helps homeless, abandoned, and medically vulnerable animals receive the life-saving care, advocacy, and support they deserve. The medical care and long-term support for these vulnerable animals - especially those facing extra-ordinary medical needs, abandonment, displacement, and risk of euthanasia. Through our rescue's assistance, advanced medical intervention, medical foster care, public education and community support, HFA helps animals that are often overlooked or considered too difficult to save. Given the challenge of caring and placing these animals in permanent homes, HFA's long term vision is to build a sanctuary for those animals with ongoing medical or special needs can receive lifelong care and compassion.

Sponsor Rupert

Rupert spent many happy years with his loving owner. But when she passed away, this gentle senior boy was suddenly left on his own and outside. Elderly, with eye issues and hypothyroidism, Rupert struggled to survive outside.

Neighbors began to notice him and put food out, and as he came around more often, they realized he was very sick and needed urgent help. They reached out to Hope for the Animals, and our team quickly trapped Rupert and brought him to safety.

Rupert was stabilized, cleaned up, and given the medical care he so desperately needed. From the very beginning, he responded with purrs, head bumps, and endless affection for his foster parents—grateful just to be warm and loved again.

Rupert has since had eye surgery to repair his damaged eye and is now waiting to see a cardiac specialist so we can understand how to best care for his heart. We don’t yet know if Hubert will fully recover, but we do know this: today he is safe, cozy, and spending his days napping on a soft couch instead of struggling on the streets.

Rupert’s care is ongoing and very expensive. Your donation helps cover his continued medical evaluations, treatments, and daily care, giving this sweet senior the comfort and love he deserves.

Darby

Poor Miss Darby spent years outside having litter after litter of kittens. A feeder of the colony she was living in noticed a large lump on Darby's back and that Darby was getting very thin. She called HFA and we responded by trapping Darby and having her medically evaluated. Darby was found to have a 2"x2" benign tumor on her back which required surgery. After surgery, and a full medical work up Darby was placed on medications for her thyroid and now takes 1 pill a day. She is a sweet old girl who wants to spend her days cuddled up and sleeping in a hammock. She found her forever home in July and now lives with one other cat and her loving human mom.

Calvin

Hope for the Animals was notified about Calvin, a gentle but feral community cat from Levittown, PA who was suffering from a traumatic eye injury. After reviewing photos, our medical director determined that he needed to be trapped and provided urgent professional help. We quickly mobilized a volunteer to humanely trap him for a veterinary assessment. Thanks to the comprehensive, specialized eye medical treatment funded by our organization, Calvin achieved a remarkable recovery and retained full vision in his eye. He has found his forever home in a permanent foster placement with our Medical Director, where he now enjoys a peaceful, pain-free life, is now friendly to humans and spends his days surrounded by his fellow feline companions.

ABBY

Hope for the Animals was notified about Abby, a gentle community cat from Bristol, PA, who was suffering from a traumatic eye injury. Although she was friendly, her local caretaker couldn't get close enough to examine the wound properly. After reviewing local photos, our medical director determined that she needed urgent professional help. We quickly mobilized a volunteer to humanely trap her for a veterinary assessment. Thanks to the comprehensive medical treatment funded by our organization, Abby achieved a miraculous recovery and defied the odds by retaining full vision in her eye. She has found her forever home in a permanent foster placement with our President, where she now enjoys a peaceful, pain-free life surrounded by her fellow feline companions.

COSMO

Hope for the Animals was notified by a TNR effort in Pennwood Crossing where a handsome black male had a terrible gash on his neck. Un-neutered male cats will fight each other over in-heat females. While they may be very friendly to humans, their nature when intact is to fight. This sweet community cat from Morrisville, PA, had a terrible gash in his neck as the result of a fight. One of our volunteers retrieved him from the site and worked with our medical director determining that he needed urgent professional help. HFA paid for all of his medical care, named him Cosmo, and placed him with a foster. Cosmo was stitched up, rested and recovered with one of our medical fosters. His sweet nature garnered him a permanent home with her where he is now a neutered, well-cared-for boy. Thanks to the comprehensive medical treatment funded by our organization, Cosmo recovered and ended his lifelong need to fight.
